Julian Austin is a Houston, TX native who recently relocated back from Dallas, TX, where he spent several years cultivating his passion for the performing arts. His thespian journey began at just seven years old, and since then, he has starred in and been featured in numerous stage and film productions, including Black Boys Cry, Kila'Delphia, Every Rose Has Its Thorns, Chicken N’ Biscuits, Sleeping with the Enemy, Rumors, Watch Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Soul Purpose, and many more. In 2011. His directorial portfolio has since expanded to include a wide range of acclaimed productions such as Unconditional, Secrets of a Broken Heart, Southern Truths, A Secret Lie in Love, Big Top Circus, and Private Chambers and recently Odessa’s Cajun Cabaret. During his time in Dallas (2015–2018), Julian worked extensively with youth outreach organizations such as Drama Kids and All Stars Project, where he taught, directed, and stage-managed projects for students across the city. It was also during this time that he co-founded Dream Writing Productions with fellow SHSU alumni.

Under his leadership, the company produced original works like What’s Yours is Mine, Welcome to the 90s, and A Life in Shambles.
